Arts Pass

volunteer for PTSA!

The Booker T. Washington School for the Performing and Visual Arts PTSA invites every parent to volunteer to make a difference for the students and for the school. The opportunities are rewarding and provide many needed services. Plus, volunteering is a great way to meet other parents and learn more about our great school. Volunteers serve on committees and advisory groups, work in school offices, provide hospitality for school functions, get the PTSA newsletter out, organize special programs, chaperone student events, and more. Volunteers are always needed for long-term, short-term, and one-time-only projects.

We hope you will seriously consider the many volunteer opportunities available at BTWHSPVA. It is the generous giving of your time that make our school the fabulous place it is! Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any additional questions about how you can make a difference.

Steps to Volunteering with PTSA

1) Choose one of many volunteer opportunities listed here and communicate with that volunteer coordinator by email, in person or by phone.

2) Complete an online application which includes an automatic background check. Go to the DISD website. This is necessary for every year you volunteer, in other words, if you did this last year you need to do it again this year if you plan to volunteer.

3) Attend a volunteer orientation. Ms. Liesner, Librarian/Volunteer Coordinator, will orient everyone at once at the September PTSA meeting or by appointment as needed 972-925-1238.

4) Record your hours on a Volunteer Sign-in sheet. Sorry. Fund raising hours and PTSA meetings do not count. All summer hours may be counted. Sign-in sheets are available in the Principal's office, in the library, and from cluster coordinators or you can download it and print it here.
