SITE BASED DECISION MAKING (SBDM) TEAM
Who and What are the SBDM?

Purpose of the SBDM:

  • BTW campus-level planning and site-based decision making body
  • Legal requirement under Subchapter f. Chapter 11 of the Texas Education Code
  • Functions in an advisory capacity to the Principal
  • “Student centered” success initiative driven through increased student, parent, staff/administration and community involvement in the educational process of BTW
  • Active involvement with Principal and faculty in developing, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating an effective Campus Improvement Plan (CIP)

Who Comprises the SBDM:

  • Comprised of fifty percent parents (and students) and community members with fifty percent teachers/staff/administration
  • Led by team comprised of Chairperson (Bob Marshall), Vice Chairperson (Scott Williams), Facilitator (Ana Hernandez) and Secretary (Fonda Arbetter)
  • Operates as a “Cross Constituency” execution team for BTW
  • Sub-Committees are the operational engine of SBDM
    • Evaluation and Modifications Committee (responsible for CIP)
    • Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Committee (CIA)
    • Public Relations and Communications Committee
    • Budget and Development Committee
    • Facilities Committee
    • Other Committees as/if required
  • Currently 34 voting members, Sub-Committee Chairpersons must be voting SBDM members
  • Recruiting Volunteers to work on the various Sub-Committees

REMEMBER: SBDM Meetings are open to everyone and are held monthly alternating between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm (for approximately one hour)
