Dear Parents:

The Booker T. Washington PTSA welcomes you to the 2010-11 school year. We are all excited to start the year with new challenges and we look forward to having your involvement.  Please take your time reviewing our website so that you can learn more about our committees, fundraising, and goals for supporting our students, teachers, and the arts community.

For many of you BTW is the "dream" school for your child - a place where they can exhibit their creativity both in their chosen cluster and their academics.  It is a school of opportunity.  A school like Booker T. requires a very active and involved parent group – in other words, a high level of volunteerism. An important way in which parents stay connected at all levels is through the BTW PTSA. Our mission is to support and enrich EVERY child’s learning experience.  As a parent, becoming a member of the PTSA will not only establish you within a network of information, but also give you a voice in making decisions for your child, for our school, and its numerous activities.

This year our fundraising focus will be on several items from Tracie's wish list for the school.  Specifically, technological upgrades and enrichment programs that are important to improving the quality of our wonderful school. The PTSA is the one volunteer organization at the school that is in place to support the Academic "Cluster".  Parental support of the  academic program and all our teachers will aid our wonderfully talented artists and provide them the opportunity to excel in all facets of their high school careers.

Our biggest fundraising opportunity will be our annual Gala.  This year, the Gala will be on April 2, please save the date - this event will be a fun and exciting way for our BTW community to share each other's company, eat, dance and bid on exciting auction items!  You won't want to miss it!

Again, welcome to the new school year. The PTA Executive Board will be at your service this year and hoping you will participate. Please let us know of your concerns or suggestions. We look forward to your ideas and involvement!  As our award-winning principal says so well "Arts, the only Choice!".

Thank you!
